NAPLES OPTOMETRIST PARTICIPATES
IN NATIONAL INFANT EYE SCREENING PROGRAM
NAPLES, FL (September 18, 2006) – Eye Centers of Florida is proud to announce the participation of Brigid Ogden, O.D. in a nationwide program that provides no-cost, professional eye care for infants.
InfantSEE™ is a public health program designed to ensure that eye and vision care becomes an integral part of infant wellness care to improve a child's quality of life. Under this program, which was inaugurated last year, American Optometric Association member optometrists provide a comprehensive infant eye assessment within the first year of life
as a no cost public health service.
Explains Dr. Ogden, “I first heard about InfantSEE™ at a medical conference when former President Jimmy Carter became their spokesperson and have been involved with it ever since. This unique program ensures that all children will have the opportunity to enjoy healthy vision throughout their life. This begins with an eye exam to a child under age one, preferably about the age of eight months.”
She adds that there are many conditions – if left undetected - that can affect a child’s vision throughout their lifetime. This quick test can ensure brain development as well as normal eye development. “There is a Critical Time Period of vision development when the brain and eye are thinking together so the brain can properly interpret images from the eye,” says Dr. Ogden. “This is from birth to age six. By conducting this test, we can screen for Amblyopia (lazy eye) and congenital cataracts, which children can be born with. This can cause a blocking of vision in one eye and result in the eye and the brain not developing properly. If we detect a problem early, we can intervene, fix it, and have a positive affect on the child’s vision development.”
Dr. Ogden is a Board Certified Optometric Physician who earned her Doctor of Optometry at Indiana University. In addition to her work with children and meeting the primary eye care needs of adults. Dr. Ogden has extensive training in ocular disease and refractive surgeries. She also specializes in treating hard-to-fit patients with contact lenses. In practice for over seven years, she was previously in private practice in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. She has been actively involved with the Special Olympics Healthy Athletes Program and has participated in several optometric mission trips to Guanajuato, Mexico.
Dr. Ogden welcomes patients at the Eye Centers of Florida office, conveniently located in North Naples on Immokalee Road at U.S. 41, just behind Colonial Bank. To make an appointment with Dr. Ogden, please call 239.591.2949 or 1-888-EYE-APPT.

AESTHETIC CENTER AT EYE CENTERS OF FLORIDA
INTRODUCES NEW COSMETIC PROCEDURES
Fort Myers, FL – July 14, 2006 – The Aesthetic Center at Eye Centers of Florida has recently announced the introduction of two new non-surgical cosmetic skin treatment procedures being performed for the first time in Southwest Florida at its South Fort Myers location in Southpointe Commons.
Explains Sandi Hill, Registered Nurse, and coordinator of the Aesthetic Center at Eye Centers of Florida, “We are committed to helping our customers achieve their desired skin care goals and proud to be poised on the cutting edge of advanced technologies. We will continue to offer new and proven procedures that are the best in skin care treatments.”
One of these state-of-the-art skin tightening procedures is Aluma skin treatments. This is a revolutionary technology called FACES ™ (Functional Aspiration Controlled Electrothermal Stimulation), which sends radio frequency waves deep into the tissue, gently stimulating the production of new collagen while protecting the outer layer of the skin. The new collagen plumps and smoothes the skin, resulting in a smoother and more youthful appearance. It also works to treat wrinkles, fine lines and skin laxity. The skin will continue to improve for several months after the new collagen is generated.
Another treatment providing dramatic improvements to the skin is Lumenis One Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) procedure. This treatment delivers wave lengths of light onto the skin, producing photorejuvenation. The patented state-of-the-art technology is used to treat any area of the body, creating younger, smoother and healthier looking skin. This procedure also treats age and sun spots, sun damage, freckles, spider veins as well as Rosacea and ruddy complexions.
Both procedures require 15-20 minutes and are virtually painless with minimal risk and no downtime. Patients can immediately return to work and activities following the procedure. They are performed by the Aesthetic Center team of licensed nurses and estheticians with training and certification in many aesthetic procedures. Multiple treatments are suggested for both procedures to achieve maximum results. For additional information, contact the Aesthetic Center at Eye Centers of Florida by calling 239-267-2288.
In addition to the Aesthetic Center, Eye Centers of Florida has 14 other locations, including the main clinic in Fort Myers as well as locations from Venice to Naples. Founded in 1982 by Medical Director David C. Brown, M.D. the medical practice is a nationally recognized eye care center providing complete vision care to Southwest Florida residents.
