Eye Centers of Florida Provides Free Vision Screenings at the Pacific Tomato Growers’ Annual Health Fair

Eye Centers of Florida Team

On Saturday, February 22, 2020, our Board Certified Ophthalmologist Juan Fernandez de Castro, M.D., and other members of the team at Eye Centers of Florida conducted 168 free vision screenings for workers and their families at the Pacific Tomato Growers’ Annual Health Fair in Immokalee.

Standard vision screenings were conducted with a wall chart. Any participants with concerning issues received an exam using a piece of brand new, cutting-edge vision analyzing technology from Adaptica called the Kaleidos. This tool is an independent and mobile binocular refractometer that can be used in any environment and light condition. Using an app and a tablet, Dr. Fernandez and his team used the Kaleidos to detect refractive errors like myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism.

At Eye Centers of Florida, we take great pride in our efforts to help everyone in our community receive access to the high-quality eye care and exceptional vision they deserve. We’re grateful for events like the Pacific Tomato Growers’ Annual Health Fair that allow us to volunteer our time and services to the community.
