Cloudy or Blurred Vision?

If you have noticed a change in your eye sight or you’re just not able to do some of the things you used to, maybe it’s time to find out why.

Cataracts

Cataracts are a very common vision problem for people of any age. The cataract is a clouding of the natural lens in our eyes. The loss in vision is a major cause of serious injuries that can occur from falls or accidents.

Vision loss may occur slowly, so that the impairment in sight may not be noticed to the person at first.

Symptoms

Cataract symptoms are varied, but commonly cause reading trouble and glare, especially at night. Color vision is also affected since cataracts darken and discolor the lens of the eye.

Treatment

Treatment of cataracts is surgery with the replacement of the cataract with an artificial lens. There is no medical treatment or prevention of cataracts with diet or supplements.

The cataract may be removed at any time, in fact earlier is better since the cataract won’t return and the eye sight is then permanently corrected. Recovery is easier if the cataract is not “ripe”.

Freedom from Glasses

Modern cataract surgery is essentially a miracle. A good result will eliminate or reduce the need for eye glasses or contact lenses. Problems such as astigmatism and the need for reading glasses can be corrected in many cases.

Cataract surgery is best performed by an experienced Board Certified Ophthalmologist in an accredited surgical facility specializing in eye surgery.
